How Much Cash is in Your Emergency Fund?

One of the best ways to reduce stress in your life is to have an emergency fund. You can almost eliminate most day-to-day financial stress by having some money set aside to deal with surprises.

Do you have your emergency fund stashed away yet?

Even if you have student loans you are paying on it is still a good idea to have at least $1,000 to $2,000 set aside for dealing with financial emergencies. Once you get your student loans (and other debt like credit cards and car notes) fully paid off then increase your emergency fund to three to six months of expenses.

Imagine the feeling of peace knowing that you have saved for a rainy day. Imagine the feeling of being able to write the check when a financial surprise happens without any drama or tears (or that sinking feeling in your stomach).

That’s financial freedom. And it’s just the beginning! :-)

Here’s another post of mine about why you should create a nice big emergency fund.
